Posted on November 17, 2020November 17, 2020 by Katie

Do you like to listen to the Blues? Or maybe you prefer some classic Rock and Roll? Well, have you ever wondered where those genres of music even came from? None other than Memphis, Tennessee. You would have never thought that this small state would be the birthplace of something as widespread as Rock and Roll, did you? Well, strap in, because Memphis has a lot more to offer you than smooth music and Elvis Presley Music.

Also known as “Grind City”, this city is the epitome of grit and passion. Sure the people here may be a bit stubborn, but they are definitely among the most strong willed in the country! And this is already one reason to visit the city yourself. So here are some more:

Barbeque.

Sure, Dallas has the nickname, the “BBQ Capital of the World”, but Memphis is close behind with some of the best dry rub ribs you will be able to taste. It is a place where you will be able to enjoy different kinds of meat from pulled pork to fried chicken in BBQ joints all across the city. And it isn’t the barbeque capital of Tennessee if the said meat is not completely covered in the most delicious sauce and seasoning you will ever taste. It definitely lives up to the name, so if you ever find yourself in town, make sure to try some of the ribs here!

Elvis Presley.

Now if you wanted to know more about the roots of Rock and Roll, and the legend who made it so well known, Elvis Presley, then Memphis is the place just for you! This is because Graceland, where Elvis used to live, is actually opened to the public. And because of this, it has become the second most visited home in America, with the White House being the only one above it. Just thinking of that is crazy!

Now, inside Graceland mansion you will be able to see different artifacts from Elvis just to see how he grew up. And after that, you can even visit the Meditation Garden, where he was laid to rest in peace. So if anything, Graceland is actually a National Tourist Attraction, and is unique only to Memphis.

The Great Outdoors.

Since Memphis has great weather almost the whole year, it is actually a pretty great place to do some outdoor activities. It’s a place where you’ll be able to do activities such as hiking or even mountain biking! With trails like the Shelby Farms Greenline, you’ll be able to awaken your inner adventurer here!

Or maybe you’re looking for a more peaceful and calm outdoor experience? Well, the Mud Island River Park has a riverwalk, a monorail, and pedal boats for you and your family to enjoy!

Conclusion.

Memphis may seem like a pretty boring place to live in at first, but you’ll be surprised at all the history and fun things you could actually do here! It is an amazing city where you’ll be able to enjoy some of the best barbeque and then hike up a mountain to see the amazing land that is Memphis!
